Mourinho makes transfer decision, deal to be completed this month: report

It looks as though Jose Mourinho will get his fourth summer signing after all, with the Daily Mail reporting that Manchester United will hand a new contract to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and it could be signed before the end of the month.

The 35-year-old striker suffered a devastating knee injury back in April during a Europa League game, and many, myself included, thought that’d be the last time we saw the influential attacker wearing our famous red jersey.

However, this latest news suggests to me that Mourinho has seen enough of Ibrahimovic’s recovery to feel confident enough to offer him another deal at the Theatre of Dreams. It is a bold decision though, given his age. However, Mourinho is a master and you trust any choice that he makes.

He’s just a remarkable human being, and the recovery process he is going through must be so tough – but he seems to be coping with it so well as you can see from the video below. I genuinely didn’t know which knee he tore ligaments in…

At the end of the day, I think that Ibrahimovic must know that he won’t be playing every single game, that’s just not possible for a man of his age – particularly when you look at how well Romelu Lukaku is performing right about now.

But, it will be so useful having a player of his calibre in and around the squad. This is a man who has been there and done it all, and the influence he’ll have on the younger guys will be priceless.
