Manchester United desperately need to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s goals tally next season in one way or another going into the new season. Although we’ve been linked to a whole host of top quality forwards, we’ve not really heard anything concrete.
Now another name has been thrown into the ring, and it’s certainly the most exciting one I’ve heard so far. According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United are ready to rival Paris Saint-Germain to secure the signature of Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
In the aforementioned report, The Mirror quote Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli who is claiming that Jose Mourinho has personally spoke to the 27-year-old from Gabon and put a five-year contract on the table for the speedy striker.
They also add that Aubameyang is keen to leave Dortmund over the summer, who are currently managerless since letting go of Thomas Tuchel.
However, if United want to acquire his signature they will have to act quick as Dortmund and PSG have already agreed upon a transfer fee, meaning the Red Devils are one step behind at this point in time.
I think that if our interest is genuine and the forward has anything about him, he’d pick a move to the Premier League every single day of the week. Coming to England is obviously a much tougher task, but a far more rewarding one of everything goes according to plan.
In terms of picking out an experienced striker who knows where the back of the net is, I genuinely don’t think it gets any better than Aubameyang. His style of play seems perfect for the English game and I’d be over the moon if we could somehow pull this one off.
