Mourinho: These two Man United players have to be brave now

Manchester United Football Club made it into a Europa League semi-final by the skin of their teeth. The Red Devils beat RSC Anderlecht 2-1 on the night, winning the tie 3-2 on aggregate with the winning goal coming courtesy of Marcus Rashford.

However, the night wasn’t all positive. Midway through the first-half, Marcos Rojo was stretchered off with what looked like a nasty knee problem – joining both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones on the treatment table.

After the game, the manager met the media to discuss the situation, and he then sent a direct message to the aforementioned English duo of Jones and Smalling, stating they have to be brave now.

“They have to be brave now. If it was me, it (returning from injury) would be tomorrow.” Mourinho is quoted as saying by the excellent Daniel Taylor of The Guardian.

Obviously, that’s easier said than done for the pair, but I’ve no doubt that this will be an extra motivation for them to get back out on the football pitch as soon as possible.

At times this season, both of them have put in some questionable performances, but at this point in time, the manager just needs numbers. Eric Bailly is literally the only fit centre-half we have available which isn’t ideal.

I’m just praying that our Argentinian centre-back isn’t out of action for too long because I firmly believe we’ll miss his no-nonsense style of defending. If he can get himself back and ready to go for our Europa League semi-final then I’ll be happy.
