Mourinho willing to break the bank & spend £70million to sign brilliant midfielder: report

Manchester United may have already added Brazil international Fred to the midfield ranks, but now another name has been thrown into the ring.

According to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, translated by the Daily Express, Jose Mourinho is ready to break the bank to bring Toni Kroos to Old Trafford.

The report says that the self-proclaimed Special One is ready to spend a huge £70million on the German international; who he worked with during their time at Real Madrid together. Furthermore, the article claims that Kroos is open to a Premier League move.

In the modern-day game, footballers like Kroos are rare. He has insane technical ability, is a world-class passer and positionally, he’s just great. As Sweden will know all too well, the midfielder also has a brilliant shot on him, too.

At 28, he’s right in his prime and acquiring players at their peak never comes cheap. In this day and age, I genuinely wouldn’t have an issue with United spending £70million on Kroos. Not only is he a marked upgrade on what we have already, but he’s a winner who’d also bring some veteran leadership to a key area of the field. Talk about finding the perfect replacement for Michael Carrick…
