David Moyes conducted his first pre-match press conference this afternoon, and conceded that Manchester United may not sign any new players in the current transfer window. He also added that Rafael, Hernandez, Young and Nani are all still injured, and unavailable for selection.
Its both good and bad that United may not sign anyone, as it means that Moyes is looking to promote within and give everyone a chance first and foremost. Players like Powell, Januzaj, Lingard and Zaha are all expected to be on the dringes of first-team action this year, and all will get considerably better if they are exposed to game time.
“There is a possibility nothing will happen, but we are hopeful on bringing in one or two players”
Those two players are quite obviously Fellaini and Baines, but United would have to up their offer considerably to land the Everton pair. It’ll be interesting to see whether either of them feature in Everton’s team tomorrow.
Rooney’s name was on everyones lips once again, too. David Moyes, once again, confirmed that Rooney isn’t for sale at any price.
“I hardly need to repeat it. It doesn’t need to be said.”
We need to keep hold of Rooney at all costs. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if we sell him to Chelsea is certainly boosts their chances of winning the league and decreases ours at the same time.
Moyes still has just short of a fortnight to make something happen. Theres still time yet…
