David de Gea – Wasn’t helped out at all by his defence. Typically poor in the passing game. 3/10

Diogo Dalot – Booked early and never recovered. Tormented by Grealish all afternoon. Poor in every aspect. 2/10

Raphael Varane – Didn’t look comfortable with City’s forward runners. Caught sleeping for their third. Picked up an injury. 3/10

Lisandro Martinez – At the heart of a back four that conceded six goals. It goes without saying, he wasn’t good enough. 2/10

Tyrell Malacia – Had a torrid 45 minutes. Also booked fairly early for a cynical foul. Hooked at half-time. 2/10

Scott McTominay – Just never got into it. Looked nervous. Struggled to complete the simple passes. Poor all round. 2/10

Christian Eriksen – You’d expect to see him get some sort of control in midfield, but that never came. 2/10

Bruno Fernandes – Put in the work but tried to make the Hollywood ball all too often. Not great. 2/10

Jadon Sancho – Quiet. Didn’t look threatening with the ball at feet. Neutralised completely by the City defenders. 2/10

Anthony – Didn’t really get into the game at all in the first 45. Scored an outstanding goal in the second half. That was about his only moment of note. 3/10

Marcus Rashford – Poor with the ball at feet. Couldn’t control it in the vital moments. 2/10

Subs:

Victor Lindelof – Just as poor as both Varane and Martinez.

Luke Shaw – Ironically, United’s best defender on the day.

Casemiro – Looked slightly more solid than McTominay. The bar was low, mind.

Anthony Martial – Scored twice upon his return from injury. Put his head at risk to grab a goal. Looked good.

Fred – Brought some calm to the midfield.
