David de Gea – Made some smart saves to deny Villa, particularly in that first 45. 6/10
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Solid enough defensively but lacked any real attacking potency. 5/10
Raphael Varane – Cruised through the game as per usual. Didn’t make any mistakes and tried to pass it forward. 7/10
Harry Maguire – Played a couple of sloppy passes, including one to De Gea that offered Villa a massive chance. Subbed off with injury 5/10
Luke Shaw – Looked a threat down the left-hand side but unfortunately had to go off injured in the first half. 5/10
Scott McTominay – Put a shift in, but struggled to deal with Villa’s combative midfield. 5/10
Fred – Struggled. Look a step below the level required. Too many dodgy passes and couldn’t find that killer ball to break the lines. 4/10
Bruno Fernandes – Outside of one killer ball to Greenwood, it was an ordinary performance from our midfield maestro. Let’s not even talk about the penalty… 4/10
Paul Pogba – Was involved in a few nice moves and made some great runs forward, but that was about it. 5/10
Mason Greenwood – Comfortably United’s biggest threat. It was his movement and directness that gave Villa problems. 6/10
Cristiano Ronaldo – Quiet, though the lack of service didn’t help whatsoever. 5/10
Subs:
Diogo Dalot – An enforced change. The Portugal man did ok.
Victor Lindelof – Solid enough.
Edinson Cavani – Didn’t have enough time to get into it.
