David de Gea – Didn’t really have an awful lot to do in terms of saves. Couldn’t do anything about the goal. 5/10
Diogo Dalot – Grew into the first 45. Won some key tackles high up the field. Didn’t really get the chance to deliver balls into the box. 5/10
Harry Maguire – Marshalled his defence well and won several headers. Made a big block in second half. Should have scored from a free header. 5/10
Victor Lindelof – Deployed high up the field and won some balls back really quickly. 6/10
Tyrell Malacia – Played in a sublime ball to Martial early. Looked solid defensively. This boy can play. 7/10
Fred – Won several balls back due to his energy and desire. Super sharp with the ball at his feet. Outstanding again. Sent off needlessly in 90th minute. 7/10
Scott McTominay – Was involved in a scuffle with what felt like the whole Atletico Madrid side at one point. He had a steady game. 5/10
Bruno Fernandes – A willing presser and the heartbeat of our team when going forward. 6/10
Anthony Elanga – Had a quiet start. Drew a couple of bookings due to his sheer speed and tenacity. Still looked a little rough around the edges. 4/10
Marcus Rashford – Linked up nicely with Malacia down the left. Played in some fantastic balls and looked really lively. 5/10
Anthony Martial – Missed a one-on-one within the first few minutes. His movement was excellent. Looked confident but came off the field limping. 5/10
Subs:
Christian Eriksen – His on-ball class was evident from minute one. He carved out numerous openings.
Donny van de Beek – Didn’t really get into the game.
Facundo Pellistri – Involved in a nice counter-attacking move. Probably should have scored.
James Garner – Not enough time to mark.
