MUFC Player Ratings during 1-0 vs Aston Villa (FA Cup, 2021/22)

David de Gea – Had to make a few good saves to preserve his clean sheet. 6/10

Diogo Dalot – Had to have stitches after the game on a nasty cut, but battled through and played well enough. 5/10

Victor Lindelof – Struggled to cope with Watkins’ pace and power at times. Nearly made a fatal error. 4/10

Raphael Varane – Steady again. Defended well for the most part but still looked like he’s building up the match fitness. 6/10

Luke Shaw – Probably didn’t get forward as much as he (or we) would’ve liked him to. Did just about enough on the defensive side. 5/10

Scott McTominay – United’s best player on the night. Headed home to give the Reds an early lead and continued to work his socks off for the cause. 7/10

Fred – Played in a delicious ball for the opener. Put in a tireless effort for the rest of the game. 6/10

Mason Greenwood – Had a couple of half-chances to cut in and fire home but didn’t strike the ball as cleanly as we’ve become accustomed to. 5/10

Bruno Fernandes – Played some lovely balls forward and looked better than he has done in recent games. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – Pretty awful. His decision-making was poor. What was most alarming was the lack of desire or effort. 3/10

Edinson Cavani – His attitude never came into question. Had a few decent chances to grab a goal but couldn’t take them. 5/10

Subs:

Donny van de Beek – Nice to see him out there.

Jesse Lingard – Showed a few bright touches.

Anthony Elanga – Looked sharp on a five-minute cameo.
