MUFC Player Ratings during 2-0 loss vs Man City (Premier League home, 2021/22)

David de Gea – Had an outstanding first half, aside from one colossal mess-up which pretty much sealed the result. 6/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – United’s worst player on a bad day? Very possibly. Gave it away at every opportunity and was just outworked by his opposite number. 2/10

Eric Bailly – From hero to zero. His bizarre own goal sent City on their way. Subbed at half-time. 3/10

Victor Lindelof – United’s best defender, but only just. He too wasn’t great and pretty sloppy on the ball. 4/10

Harry Maguire – Positionally all over the place, again. Just struggled to deal with the City high-press. 3/10

Luke Shaw – Didn’t look interested. Gave it away cheaply on numerous occasions and was beaten way too easily. 3/10

Scott McTominay – Tried to throw his weight around and get United on the move, but he just wasn’t given enough time on the ball. He has to play quicker. 4/10

Fred – Not good enough on the ball as per usual. 4/10

Bruno Fernandes – A non-factor. Looked hot-headed early on and never settled into his rhythm. 3/10

Mason Greenwood – Nice to see him back in the line-up, but struggled with the intensity of the game. 3/10

Cristiano Ronaldo – Very, very quiet. Didn’t even get a half-chance on goal to try and lift the crowd. The lack of service didn’t help. 3/10

Subs:

Jadon Sancho – Actually looked sharp.

Marcus Rashford – Barely had a kick.

Alex Telles – Brought on for the injured Shaw.

Donny van de Beek – Nice to see him out there.
