MUFC Player Ratings during 2-0 win vs Villareal (Champions League away, 2021/22)

David de Gea – Made a couple of outstanding saves. His good form continues. 6/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Sadly, it looks like Wan-Bissaka is getting worse. His positional awareness and decision-making was terrible at times. 3/10

Victor Lindelof – United’s best defender on the day. He had an outstanding first 45 minutes, winning headers and tackles galore. 7/10

Harry Maguire – Not too bad. Didn’t really have an awful lot to do defensively but he was solid enough. 6/10

Alex Telles – Switched off defensively on one or two occasions. Was decent overall. 5/10

Scott McTominay – Bypassed on a couple of occasions. Was also limping early in the second 45. I wonder if he’s still not fully fit… 4/10

Fred – Typically average from Fred. He kept it simple in possession and worked hard. Did win the ball back for the all-important goal. 6/10

Donny van de Beek – Nice to see him start and he was steady. 5/10

Jadon Sancho – Looked lively with the ball at his feet. Sadly, his teammates didn’t find him anywhere near often enough. He smashed one in off the underside of the bar to secure the result! 7/10

Anthony Martial – Pretty poor and you could tell he has barely played recently. The lack of desire to press is a concern, though. 4/10

Cristiano Ronaldo – Worked as hard as ever and tried to make things happen. His smart finish sent us on our way. 5/10

Subs:

Bruno Fernandes – Changed the game with his quality and directness.

Marcus Rashford – Looked super sharp and gave Villareal something to think about due to his pace. A great cameo.
