David de Gea – A frustrated bystander. Couldn’t do anything about the goals – except bark at his defence. 5/10
Diogo Dalot – Another game that highlighted he just isn’t good enough. A mess defensively. At fault for two of the second-half goals. 2/10
Victor Lindelof – Back to his hesitant self. Was outfought, outthought and outworked by the Brighton attackers. 2/10
Raphael Varane – Just wasn’t good enough. Didn’t close down at the speed we need and just meandered around the field. Disappointing. 3/10
Alex Telles – Dreadful again. Just awful defensively and not anywhere near as productive as we’d like when going forward. 2/10
Scott McTominay – Passed by far too easily on more than one occasion. Couldn’t touch Bissouma in the one-on-one battle. Just not good enough. 2/10
Nemanja Matic – Probably United’s best player on the day. Brought some experience to a midfield that struggled badly. 5/10
Bruno Fernandes – Didn’t create enough opportunities for himself or his teammates. 3/10
Anthony Elanga – He’s young so you expect some inconsistency, but he, like the rest of his teammates, wilted badly during this one. 2/10
Juan Mata – Back to looking like a player who is a yard off the pace at all times. 3/10
Cristiano Ronaldo – His first sub-par outing in a while. Just couldn’t get on the ball enough. 3/10

Fred – At least worked hard.
Edinson Cavani – Looked pretty lively.
Harry Maguire – Nice to see him back from injury.
