MUFC Player Ratings during 4-1 win vs Melbourne Victory (Pre-Season 2022)

Man United ran out winners vs Melbourne victory earlier today, with our player ratings now in.

Tom Heaton – Couldn’t really do anything about the early goal. Had a quiet game aside from that. Distributed the ball quickly. 5/10

Diogo Dalot – Played more on the front foot than he did against Liverpool. His final ball

Victor Lindelof – Culpable for the Melbourne opener. Out of position and gave his man far too much space. 3/10

Harry Maguire – Deployed pretty high up the field which often left him exposed defensively due to a lack of pace. 4/10

Luke Shaw – Also out of position for the Melbourne goal. He did work hard on both sides of the ball, though. 4/10

Scott McTominay – Had a mixed game possession-wise. However, he tried a few shots and was eventually rewarded with a deflected effort that nestled in the back of the net. 5/10

Fred – Blew hot and cold. Was always willing to work hard, though his passing was a bit erratic. 4/10

Bruno Fernandes – Looked good. Played some incisive passes forward and was at the heart of everything positive about our attack. 6/10

Anthony Elanga – Probably United’s least influential attacker, though laid it off nicely for Martial’s goal. 4/10

Jadon Sancho – Looked sharp again. His passing was crisp and always looked a threat with the ball at his feet. 7/10

Anthony Martial – Led the line well. Always tried to make things happen be it with his dribbling or link-up play. Was rewarded with a tap-in late in the first half. 6/10

Subs:

Ethan Laird – I was eager to see Laird, no doubt Ten Hag was too, and he didn’t disappoint. He bombed up and down the right all half. 5/10

Alex Telles – Had a solid half. Not particularly inspiring or flashy, just efficient. 5/10

Eric Bailly – A quieter game than the Liverpool one and a little more careless. Put his defence and goalkeeper into trouble on more than one occasion. Made up for that with a stunning pass into Rashford for United’s third. 5/10

Tyrell Malacia – All the attack came down the other side, but he was willing to start high up the field to try and push the Melbourne players back. Played one delicious ball into Rashford’s head. 5/10

Zidane Iqbal – Continued to impress. Showed some silky skills including a fancy pirouette to get past his man. Looks a real talent. 6/10

Charlie Savage – Worked hard in the engine room and kept things ticking over nicely. Won back the ball on numerous occasions. 6/10

Donny van de Beek – Relatively quiet. Tried to find those little pockets of space but didn’t get on the ball enough. 3/10

Tahith Chong – Nice to see him out there. Made a late impact by running to the byline and firing the ball across, forcing a Melbourne player to turn into his own net. 5/10

Amad – Looked up for it and full of intent. The final ball or decision was sometimes lacking, though. That’ll come with experience. 5/10

Marcus Rashford – Played as a striker this time and work tirelessly throughout. Pressed hard from the front and got his rewards with a cool finish to make it three. 6/10
