Our reserves were last night named Premier League Reserves national champions after a victory against Aston Villa on penalties. The game was a boring 0-0 affair but Sam Johnstone made himself a hero after saving three out of four penalties. This was coupled with Will Keane, Josh King, and Jesse Lingard all scoring their attempts from the spot.
This victory follows us being named Reserve League North Champions last month, after finding ourselves 3-0 down to Newcastle and coming out winning the match 6-3, with Will Keane finding the net four times, there are several members of this squad that look likely to push hard for a first team place in the not too distant future, with Will being one of them.
Our reserves have now won the league four times, which is three more than any other club, making us the most successful reserve side in history.
