It was today revealed that contract talks between the club and Portuguese winger Nani had potentially hit a stumbling block. Nani is currently on international duty with Portugal and is set to feature at the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.
“Now I am really happy, but I don’t know about my future.” He said.
“Now I will study opportunities. Football is not only about England or Spain. It is possible to enjoy success in other countries.”
He continued “My agent is waiting on news about United. We have presented a counter-offer and now we are waiting on an offer from the club.”
Over the past few months a lot of reports suggested that Nani could be off to Italian giants Juventus, but before these quotes came out you would have dismissed it as nonsense. However the club seemingly aren’t willing to match Nani’s wage demands so a move to Italy could well be on the cards.
To let a flair player like Nani depart the club would just sum up what a frustrating season it’s been for us reds. He is probably the second most talented player at the club behind Wayne Rooney and on his day he is unstoppable. Yes, at times he can be frustrating but he gives us that cutting edge our attacking force depends on.
His best position has to be on the right-wing, but because of Antonio Valencia’s prolific form from the right hand side, he has largely been used on the left in a rotation policy with Ashley Young. The 25 year old has had a few injuries this season which hasn’t helped his case to hold down a regular first team position, but if you had to choose between him and Young, i’d go with Nani every time.
Personally I can’t see him going anywhere, to me it seems like Nani loves to pull on the red shirt and he is to important to the club to let him go. So it’s in the best interest of both parties to sort out a deal as soon as possible.
