After a loan spell with the Serie A outfit, Lazio are looking to acquire Andreas Pereira once more.
Last season, Andreas Pereira would spend the campaign with Lazio in Italy. The Brazilian had struggled for minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the best of times, with the acquisition of Donny van de Beek only making it tougher.
Well, there could be a more long-term plan on the table for Pereira – though it’d be away from Manchester United.
The story comes from La Lazio Siamo Noi, translated via Sport Witness. they state the ‘negotiation is underway’, with Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri looking to sign the forgotten 25-year-old United star this summer.
Apparently, the newly-appointed Sarri has ‘asked the club’ to bring back United’s number fifteen ahead of the 2021/22 term. Despite struggling for regular minutes last season, Sarri’s request has immediately seen the powers-that-be at Lazio ‘immediately reconnect’ with United chiefs, presumably to discuss a transfer.
Lazio are ready to take Pereira on another loan deal, which you’d imagine would be another season-long agreement. Those terms would include the ‘right or obligation to redeem linked to certain parameters’. Simply put, there’d be some sort of clause included that would allow Lazio to buy Pereira for a fixed fee.
For United, you’d imagine they’d prefer to sell Pereira outright. Without knowing the terms Lazio are offering, there’s probably no obligation to buy, rather than the option should they so choose. In all likelihood, that means Pereira will be back at Old Trafford next summer, leaving the Old Trafford club back at square one.
Sadly, there seems to be no way back into the first-team fold for Pereira here. Get whatever transfer fee you can for the Brazilian now and use that money to reinvest in the squad.
