An Anthony Martial exit from Man United is looking likelier than ever.
Manchester United Football Club have an abundance of attacking talent on their books. Adding Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho into the mix only further heightened competition.
Inevitably, there were going to be some frustrated individuals within that dressing room as a result. The likes of Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Anthony Martial have all barely played this term. All could be looking to move away in the not too distant future.
It’s the Frenchman who has actively spoken out in that regard. He’s made no bones about his desire to leave. United are seemingly ready to cut ties, too.
Now, journalist Loic Tanzi has given us the latest on the situation. He says that ‘negotiations are progressing’ in regards to the star’s exit from United – and it could happen as early as January.
It’d be a loan deal, with Sevilla named as the most ‘advanced’ to secure a deal to acquire the Frenchman, with the player also keen on a move to Spain.
I think it says a lot that Martial, who was once talked up as a future Ballon d’Or winner, is now content with a move to Sevilla. Sure, they’re a great club with a rich history. Though they’re hardly an FC Barcelona, PSG or Bayern Munich, are they?
The big boys don’t want to touch Martial. They’ve seen his half-hearted efforts and poor output on full display here in Manchester.
Sadly, it hasn’t quite worked out as we’d all hoped. Martial has an abundance of talent and ability. It just hasn’t been on full display anywhere near often enough despite a brilliant first two years.
Perhaps at this stage, a fresh start is exactly what he needs.
