Manchester United have been without one of their star players over the last few weeks, after Paul Pogba went down with an injury during the Red Devils’ Champions League opener against FC Basel. However, in that time, Jose Mourinho’s men have been as prolific as ever.
Pogba’s new midfielder partner, Nemanja Matic, has been brilliant since he arrived at the Theatre of Dreams too. The duo had formed an excellent on-field bond before the Frenchman went down with a knock, and now he’s been speaking to the media about how his team will cope without the 24-year-old.
Of course, he began by heaping the praise on Pogba, before adding that it provides an excellent opportunity for the rest of the squad to step up in his absence.
“We know that he will be out for some time and he’s very important for us, he’s a great player, but I am sure that he will help us this season a lot,” said Matic, as per the Manchester Evening News.
“He’s physically good, I am sure that he will recover well and he will be ready for this season to help us and to score many goals.”
“Everyone knows that Paul is very important for Manchester United, but we also have great players to play instead of him,”
“We showed in the last few games that everyone in Manchester is ready to play and everyone can help us.”
As of right now, Marouane Fellaini is performing phenomenally. Although the Belgium international has a completely different skillset, the manager trusts him and he’s playing some remarkable football.
It has also meant an increase in minutes to Ander Herrera who’s slowly but surely finding his feet this term. Don’t forget about Michael Carrick, either. The former Tottenham Hotspur man has barely taken to the field this campaign, but we all know the quality that he possesses.
