Nemanja Vidic to leave Manchester United

Despite scoring a captains goal in the Capital One Cup, Nemanja Vidic looks like he could be on his way out of Manchester United in the summer. The 32-year old has been offered a one-year contract extension, which is what the club offer any players over the age of 30. However it is believed Vidic wants a longer contract.

The club are wary about offering our club captain a longer deal due to concerns about the centre-back’s knee, which has kept the player sidelined for long periods of time.

Vidic’s agent, Silvano Martina said:

‘At the moment, I would rule out an extension with Manchester United. Vidic, given his contract situation, has several teams looking at him.”

Napoli are understood to be the early favourites for the big Serb’s signature when his current deal expires, but as you’d expect there are a whole host of clubs chasing his signature already.

With Rio Ferdinand also expected to leave in the coming summer, there will be a lot of changes at Manchester United over the next twelve months. Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala is being touted as a long-term replacement for the centre-back slot.
