Champions League football at Old Trafford is now probably just a dream for Manchester United fans, after the 3-2 loss away at West Ham. However the club aren’t hanging around in terms of bringing in a new manager, with the latest reports coming from Spanish radio.
Onda Cero say that ‘everything indicates’ Manchester United will hire Jose Mourinho as their next manager, replacing Louis van Gaal is the hot seat.
They also go on to say that Mourinho has made Raphael Varane a big priority for a summer transfer, with the Portuguese manager eyeing United’s defence as a weak link.
Bringing in this pair would be a real statement of intent from Edward Woodward, who has come under criticism from fans since taking over a few years ago.
How a Spanish radio station would have the scoop about Mourinho’s whereabouts before anyone else is beyond me, and this could just be an educated guess on their part. We’ll have to wait and see how this one pans out.
