Newcastle United manager, Steve Bruce, is using his Man United connections to try and strengthen his playing squad this summer.
Manchester United’s squad is jam-packed with quality. For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, there are probably too many players to choose from, meaning he’ll have to let a handful leave in some capacity.
Well, according to The Athletic, Newcastle United have already made contact with United, as they’re showing an interest in signing three United players this summer.
Bruce is looking to use his United links to strengthen the Magpies’ playing squad for the 2021/22 term. Apparently, the three Reds he’s looking at are Phil Jones, Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe.
As of right now, there’s no solid information as to whether these moves would be permanent transfers or loan deals – though we’ll do our best to read between the lines.
Whereas Jones is concerned, he just needs to be playing for a club that can offer him regular minutes. The Reds can’t do that anymore, hence why a permanent switch to Tyneside would be in the best interests of everyone.
Williams and Tuanzebe are both still young enough to make an impact at United in the long-term, hence why these transfers are likely to be loan ones. We already know Tuanzebe is looking likely to be heading out on a short-term deal, while Williams just needs minutes under his belt to get his young career back on track.
Whether one, two or all three of these transfers actually happen remains to be seen. However, you can see the logic in all three deals for different reasons. It would particularly help Williams and Tuanzebe if they’re offered the chance to start week-in-week-out in the Premier League.
