Newcastle United will make another attempt to sign Jesse Lingard this month.
Jesse Lingard will always be fondly remembered by the Old Trafford Faithful.
From his FA Youth Cup exploits in 2011, to many match-winning goals over the last decade. The Englishman lives and breaths Manchester United Football Club.
However, he’s barely played this season. That’s despite a stunning second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at West Ham United. The Warrington-born-winger was positively influencing every game, be it with goals, assists or general threat.
Sadly, though, the curtains seem to be closing on his Old Trafford career. Given his lack of playing time and winding down contract, the writing appears to be on the wall.
There’s one club that are doing their utmost to make this move happen too; Newcastle United.
The latest update comes from Fabrizio Romano, who claims that negotiations are ongoing between Newcastle, United and Lingard’s representatives.
It’s stated that the Mapgies are making a ‘push’ to sign the out-of-favour United star this month – either on a permanent deal, or at least until the end of the season. The Newcastle United board is ‘working hard’ to get the deal done.
Lingard is someone who has always given his all for the United badge. We can never take that away from him.
However, the time certainly feels right. Lingard is being used sparingly at Old Trafford right now and he’s at that stage in his career where he just wants to be playing football regularly.
Sadly, that’s not going to happen here at United. It’s up to the club to respect his wishes, appreciate what he’s done for us and look to move him on this month.
Once again, this is a case of United being over-greedy. They had a great offer on the table from West Ham United last summer but chose to reject that for whatever reason. Now, it looks nigh-on certain that they’re going to lose him for nothing when this summer rolls around…
