Rumours linking Romelu Lukaku with a move away from Manchester United just will not go away.
The latest update in the saga comes from Gazzetta dello Sport (Thursday print) in Italy, translated brilliantly by Sport Witness.
For me, the most interesting story about the report is that an official offer for Man United’s 26-year-old is close to being made by Inter, while Gazzetta state that the next few days will be ‘very hot’.
This goes in line with what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said in a recent press conference, as he told the media we should know more on Lukaku’s future ‘next week’.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand… GdS state that United are open to the idea of a ‘deferred payment’, meaning Inter wouldn’t pay straight, up-cash to sign Lukaku this summer.
Apparently, the offer that Inter are about to make is worth a guaranteed €60m (£54m), in three instalments of €20m-per-year. Furthermore, bonuses could take the total transfer fee to €70m (€63m).
However, GdS state that Inter know this bid will not be enough, as is the case with most official opening offers.
Personally, I do get the impression some sort of deal will be reached during this summer, but I do hope that United ask for more upfront – I’d also be disappointed if the Reds lost money on the £75million that they paid to sign Lukaku from Everton in 2017…
