Manchester United were reportedly chasing that marquee signing all summer long, but unfortunately there were no players whom Louis van Gaal deemed available to sign – meaning we ended up leaving it until deadline day before making a move for Anthony Martial.
One of the players Louis van Gaal was clearly keen on was Neymar of FC Barcelona, and the talented Brazilian has admitted that he did talk to Manchester United about the possibility of a move.
“We had conversations, but there was nothing concrete, I heard that there were offers, but none made it to me.” Neymar told ESPN.
First and foremost this confirms that Manchester United did bid for Nemyar, but it looks as though that was immediately rejected by the Camp Nou team just as you’d expect.
Who knows, it doesn’t sound as though Neymar was totally disinterested in the move so this could be one to keep an eye on in the future.
