NHS Old Trafford: Man United light up Theatre of Dreams blue as NHS tribute

Here at Old Trafford Faithful, we promote honesty, be it negative or positive. Trust me when I say we’ve hammered Manchester United Football Club on several occasions.

However, they deserve praise in equal measure when they get it right. During this global pandemic, I’ve never been prouder to be a Red Devil. They’ve not furloughed staff nor made any cuts, while doing the absolute utmost to help out the NHS.

Last night, the Reds made another incredibly heartfelt gesture – lighting up Old Trafford blue, and spelling out ‘NHS’ on the iconic Manchester United sign. Class.

It’s little things like this that make me realise that United, as a club, mean well and are heading in a positive direction once again. Seriously, huge props to whoever came up with this idea as it looks absolutely brilliant and it’s an incredible touch.

Hopefully, this brightens up your dad just as it did mine when I saw it. If this brings even just a few smiles to people’s faces, particularly those football-lovers, then it has done exactly as intended. Seriously, well done, Manchester United.

Without the NHS, this country is nothing. Times like this make you realise just how important our health service is. To all those frontline workers putting themselves at risk, I thank you wholeheartedly.
