Well this is kind of a weird one, but here goes… Despite the fact that Manchester United (or his new club) are yet to confirm Nishan Burkart’s departure, it does seem as though the attacker has left Old Trafford…
The 19-year-old forward has all-but confirmed his Red Devils journey is over by appearing for SC Freiburg in a pre-season friendly. So-much-so that his seemingly new manager, in an interview with Badische-Zeitung, was full of praise for Burkart after the game. As always, the excellent translation comes from Sport Witness.
Burkart scored in a 5-2 victory over SC Cham, but it’s all a bit odd that neither Freiburg nor United have confirmed the news, with the 19-year-old not appearing on the Red Devils’ released list last month.
The article states that Freiburg had been keen on signing the Swissman for quite some time, and the fact that Burkart was way down the pecking order at United meant that he’d have a better chance at first-team football if he moved elsewhere.
I’m just confused as to why neither club have confirmed nor denied what has taken place with Burkart. For some reason, it seems as though both parties are happy just to brush it under the carpet and get on with playing football. Either that or an official agreement is yet to be reached, but the fact that he is already donning Freiburg colours suggests otherwise.
Good luck, Nishan!
