Yesterday, we covered a story from the Daily Record which claimed that Manchester United had agreed a fee to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.
However, shortly after the story broke, the Daily Mail were quick to deny those reports. They say that United and Palace are yet to reach an agreement for the sale of the 21-year-old – although the clubs are still ‘locked in talks’ as they try to reach common ground.
The fee that was apparently agreed was somewhere around the £55million mark. In the Daily Mail’s report, it is unclear as to whether United have actually offered that amount, or whether a bid of that fee was rejected by Palace.
All stories lead me to believe that it won’t take much more than £55million to get the deal done for the right-back and it does now feel a case of when rather than if the transfer will happen.
United do have time on their side due to the fact that Wan-Bissaka is currently with England’s U21s for the European Championships in France – so that does give the two club’s an extra fortnight or so to eventually agree upon a transfer fee.
I’m excited at the prospect of having Wan-Bissaka in the squad. Defensively, I’m not sure there’s a better right-back in the Premier League at the moment and he’d be a massive upgrade on what we currently have in that area of the field.
