November fixtures offer Manchester United a glimmer of hope

Manchester United will head into their November fixtures eager to steady the ship after enduring a dismal start to the 2024/25 season.

The recent 2-1 defeat at West Ham United left the Red Devils 14th in the Premier League and ultimately marked the end of Erik ten Hag’s managerial spell.

United are yet to win in the Europa League, but have the chance to rectify matters over the next few weeks. Read on as we look at what is on the agenda in November.

Chelsea (H) – Premier League – November 3

A quick look at the latest football odds from Betway paints a sorry picture for United, with Chelsea rated as the 7/5 favourites to win at Old Trafford.

The Blues head into the game fifth in the Premier League and have looked much-improved under manager Enzo Maresca this season.

United will be desperate to secure a positive result against Chelsea to give themselves a solid foundation to build from for the rest of the month.

PAOK (H) – Europa League – November 7

United were one of the bookmakers’ favourites to win the Europa League this season, but they are yet to get a win on the board in the three outings.

Draws against FC Twente, Porto and Fenerbahce have left them 21st in the opening phase table, but Matchday 4 gives them a chance to improve their position.

PAOK lost their first two games against Galatasaray and FCSB before drawing with Viktoria Plzen and will be big underdogs for their visit to Old Trafford.

Leicester City (H) – Europa League – November 10

Leicester City have fared best of the three newly-promoted teams this season, collecting nine points from their first nine games in the top flight.

However, they have conceded ten goals in four outings on the road – a tally which should have United’s forwards eagerly anticipating their visit.

The Foxes can upset the odds if United are not at their best, but this should be a home win if the team gets its act together.

Ipswich Town (A) – Premier League – November 24

The trip to Ipswich Town after the November international break offers United another excellent opportunity to collect three points.

Ipswich have conceded 20 goals in their first nine matches since winning promotion and their stay in the Premier League could be a short one.

Although they have held Fulham and Aston Villa to draws at Portman Road, this is a game the Red Devils should be winning.

Bodo/Glimt (H) – Europa League – November 28

While United will be odds-on favourites to defeat Bodo/Glimt, they would be well-advised not to underestimate the threat posed by their opponents.

The Norwegian side are going well in their own league and have picked up seven points from a possible nine in Europe this term.

Their results include victories over Portuguese clubs Porto and Braga, and they are perfectly capable of causing United problems at Old Trafford.
