The goals have dried up at Manchester United recently. Jose Mourinho’s men have looked toothless in attack.
It all starts from the front-man. Romelu Lukaku has struggled massively to start this season. He was supposed to improve while playing and training with world-class players every week, instead, it feels like the 25-year-old is getting worse.
In an interesting exclusive by The Sun, they claim that the odds of Zlatan Ibrahimovic rejoining Manchester United have slashed massively. Now, he’s at 7/2 to make a short-term January loan deal back to Old Trafford.
After scoring a mightily impressive 22 goals in just 26 games, Ibrahimovic has been tearing up the MLS with some stunning performances. However, you have to remember that the Swede is now 37. His best days are well and truly behind him and do we really think he can come in and do a good enough job for six months?
I’m inclined to say no. Football fans tend to have short memories. Following his knee injury that he picked up in the dying embers of his debut campaign, Zlatan never really looked like the same player from that point forward. The MLS isn’t close to the quality of the Premier League, and Ibrahimovic trying to make that step up could leave United with eggs on their faces.
