Manchester United Football Club surprised everyone on transfer deadline day, sealing a loan move for Odion Ighalo.
The Nigerian does have Premier League experience from his time at Watford, though the fact that the Red Devils were acquiring players from the Chinese Super League left some supporters feeling underwhelmed.
Anyway, what’s done is done and for what it’s worth, I think Ighalo will be a solid addition to this playing squad.
Attentions now turn to a potential debut, and it doesn’t look like Ighalo will be involved on Monday Night Football when United make their return from their winter break.
According to the Evening Standard, the 30-year-old Man United man will have to ‘produce wonders’ to be thrown in from the start vs Chelsea.
That’s due to the fact that Ighalo will have to impress Solskjaer from afar. Unfortunately, the striker isn’t in Marbella with the rest of the squad, working on his fitness as he looks to get up to speed.
Unfortunately, concerns about the coronavirus epidemic meant that United wasn’t sure whether if Ighalo left the UK, he’d be allowed back in – hence they took the decision to keep him at home.
With that in mind, it seems nigh-on impossible that Ighalo will start against Chelsea. I’d guess that there’s an outside chance he makes the bench as our squad is so thin right now, but as it stands, I’d be surprised if we see him take to the field…
