Manchester United Football Club have officially confirmed the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea. The defensive-midfielder has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at the Theatre of Dreams, with the option for a further year if the club decides to activate the clause.
This is a signing we’ve absolutely been crying out for, and I’m so pleased that Jose Mourinho has opted to bring in a proven Premier League player who doesn’t mind doing the dirty work.

It’ll give both Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera that extra freedom when going forward, and from day one, I’m fully confident the whole balance of our side will look so much better.
I genuinely cannot remember the last out-and-out defensive midfielder we’ve had, and we certainly haven’t had immense quality in such a key area of the field since the days of Roy Keane.
At 28, he’ll bring some experience to the table, as well as the fact that he’s a winner. During his three-and-a-half-year stint at Chelsea, Matic has won an impressive two Premier League titles.
This is a man who is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the game, and the fact that we’ve managed to prise him from a direct rival is superb business.
Although it isn’t an exciting signature, it was a necessary one. This will benefit us hugely going into the season.
