Manchester United’s third signing of the summer is none other than Nemanja Matic. The 28-year-old powerhouse follows Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku through the Old Trafford entrance doors, and now, Matic’s shirt number has already been confirmed.
The club tweeted out that the Serbia star will wear the #31 jersey which was previously owned by Bastian Schweinsteiger; before the German moved to Chicago Fire earlier on in the year.

On paper, Matic isn’t a signing that’ll excite and get bums on seats. With that said, a player like him has been something the Red Devils have been crying out for.
This is a man who thoroughly enjoys doing the dirty work. He loves to break up the play and get involved in a real physical midfield battle. Jose Mourinho knows him well from their time together at Chelsea, and that should lead to a smooth transition into our starting line-up for Matic.
The biggest plus about this man is that he’s a hard worker and he knows exactly what is required from him. He’ll just sit in front of the back four and offer them extra protection, whilst allowing Paul Pogba to get forward and make an impact in the final third of the pitch.
