Solskjaer full of praise for ‘class’ Anthony Martial

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped the praise on Anthony Martial following an up-turn in form.

£50million down the drain, as Tony Martial scores again, was a chant heard on many occasion last season (before the lockdown of course). The Frenchman enjoyed his best ever season in Red Devils colours back in 2019/20.

However, Martial’s start to 2020/21 was one filled with struggles. He’d start slowly then get sent off and missed a few games with a suspension. Mentally, it looked like that affected him for a month or so.

Now, though, we’re looking at a Martial who is back to his best. He’s leading the line excellently, while growing in confidence and fitness. Sure, we’d like to see more goals from our number nine, though I’m fully expecting those to come as his return to form continues.

Anyway, Solskajer would admit his delight with the United star, who he claims is ‘only going to get better’…

Check out what Solskjaer had to say as he offered praise to Martial:

“We’ve had some chats, of course,” Ole said to ManUtd.com.

“We have spoken about last season and how important he was for us then and he is going to be important for us this season.

“Player’s form is temporary but when you have got class that is permanent. I think he has proven he is class.

“Now he is getting fitter and fitter and that means he is going to get better and better.”

I think this is why Solskjaer is the right man for the job at the moment. The Baby Faced Assassin is always quick to credit his players when they’re doing well. Whereas under Jose Mourinho, it was like getting blood out of a stone…

The harmony within this squad is there for all to see. If you watched the game against Aston Villa on Friday, you can see exactly what it meant to the whole squad when Eric Bailly made that colossal block late on. The players want to work and fight for each other.

No doubt they all rallied around Martial when he was struggling for form, too. Now, he’s come through that sticky patch and we’re starting to see great football from the former AS Monaco man once again.

We’re certainly going to need him over the next couple of fixtures as well, with United without Edinson Cavani who is serving a suspension for a comment he’d make on social media.
