Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacked by Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked by Manchester United.

Well, it’s happened. Manchester United have confirmed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as manager after three years at the helm.

Our club legend has struggled to get the right tune out of his players over the last couple of weeks and now the inevitable has happened.

Solskjaer has been relieved of his duties, with the club thanking the Baby Faced Assassin for the excellent work he has done over the last few years.

It’s sad to see him go but you always felt like the Norwegian has taken this club as far as he can. At the end of the day, he was never supposed to be the permanent replacement for Jose Mourinho, which speaks volumes about how well Solskjaer actually ended up doing. For that, he deserves massive credit.

Solskjaer’s legendary status as a player remains firmly in tact, while the work he has done in the dugout will not go unnoticed. From that night in Paris, to some outstanding big-game performances over the last few years, we have to thank him for that.

You just look at how talented this playing squad is. Solskjaer assembled that. He deserves praise for the work he’s done in that regard, too.

Solskjaer can walk away with his head held high. He’ll always get a warm welcome whenever he returns back to Old Trafford as a fan. Us supporters have to remember that the positives far outweigh the negatives – and there’s no shame in realising that he has just reached his limit in a managerial capacity.

In the interim, Michael Carrick will take charge of the Reds, with the help of Mike Phelan and Kieran McKenna.

From us here at Old Trafford Faithful, thanks for everything, Ole.
