Here at Old Trafford Faithful, we’ve gone into overdrive covering rumours linking Manchester United with a potential move for Erling Haaland.
The talented teenager has improved massively as a player over the last six months or so, scoring goals for fun out in Austria. Having scored 28 goals in 22 games, Haaland certainly knows where the back of the net is – and that’s why several of Europe’s elite sides have shown a keen interest in the Norweigan.
Now, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has finally spoken out on the situation directly. The Baby Faced Assassin has further fuelled the transfer fire, by admitting that the report United transfer target is a player he ‘likes’.
“He is a player I like, we are always looking for good players,” Solskjaer told ViaSport, translated by the MEN.
“Erling has had a nice development and he should keep developing where he decides to go. I don’t need to talk much about him. But as a team we are always looking for players who can complement the ones we already have. And then we will see what we end up with.”
“The most important thing for all players, no matter where you are, that you are enjoying yourself where you are.”
Haaland certainly fits the profile of player that United have been looking at; Young, talented and with room for growth. However, the Red Devils could have their work cut out – particularly without Champions League football on the table.
What does play into United’s hands is the fact that Solskjaer has previously worked with Haaland during their time together at Molde. The player knows how the Baby Faced Assassin operates and vice versa.
For me, the burning question is playing time. Would Haaland be able to dislodge Anthony Martial from the team on a regular basis? It seems to me as though the Norweigan is only going to move to a club which can guarantee him playing time week-in-week-out. I’m not convinced United can do that at this point in time…
With that said, at least we now know that Solskjaer likes Haaland the player.
