Ole Solskjaer provides worrying injury update as Man United prepare for Palace

The games are coming thick and fast for Manchester United at the moment, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tries to keep the Red Devils fighting it out on all fronts.

For the Baby Faced Assassin, these are testing times. Against Liverpool at the weekend, the Red Devils were hit with a mini injury crisis. Three players had to be substituted with problems while Marcus Rashford was physically struggling throughout the encounter.

With not much turnaround before the next fixture, United are looking extremely thin in terms of numbers. Before the Crystal Palace game, our Norwegian leader has offered us an update in regards to injuries – but it’s not looking good…

“Well, the three we had to take off [Herrera, Lingard, Mata], they’re not going to be ready,” Solskjaer is quoted as saying by ManUtd.com.

“As for Rashy [Marcus Rashford], we’re going to work on him for as long as we can to see if he gets ready because that wasn’t as bad as we first feared, so luckily I don’t think we damaged it any more by him finishing the game.

“He might have a chance of playing. Then again I don’t think there’ll be anyone else coming back for this game. So there’ll be a chance for the kids.”

The impression I get is that Marcus Rashford has an outside chance at possibly being fit to start as a substitute, but that’s about it. To lose three players in key positions is hard to take. There’s also no chance Nemanja Matic will play, while Anthony Martial is unlikely to feature too…

As Solskjaer says, it provides an opportunity for others to prove their worth. It’s a shame that Mason Greenwood isn’t going to be ready, but no doubt Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and James Garner are all chomping at the bit.

As long as our defence plays well, you always fancy us to at least carve out a few chances and with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez up top, we’re more than capable of scoring a goal or two.
