Manchester United struggled during the summer transfer window. Their biggest need was trying to sign a new centre-half – but that never materialised and Jose Mourinho was left wanting.
Now things could be about to get worse, with the Manchester Evening News citing reports from Abidjanshow in Bailly’s home country, that claim the 24-year-old could be seeking a January exit from Old Trafford.
Since August, Bailly has played just 21 minutes of Premier League football which is damning. When Mourinho signed him, the ex-Villareal man was by far and away our best defender during his debut campaign.
Over the last few years, though, injuries have massively taken their toll and this term he has looked a nervous wreck. It’s a shame because I still feel that he’s the best option we have, and all he needs is a little TLC to get him back on the right track.
Selling him prematurely could well come back to bite us, while also making United look rather stupid. He’s still young and learning, make no mistake about it, an elite European side will pick him up on the cheap and Bailly will undoubtedly get back to his best…
