Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are growing increasingly confident that a Jadon Sancho transfer will happen this summer.
Just yesterday, we covered a claim from The Athletic, who stated Manchester United were pressing ahead with a deal to acquire Jadon Sancho this summer.
No less than 24 hours later and we’re back at it again. This time, the story comes from Sky Sports News – and it’s an important update.
It’s claimed United are in ‘continued negotiations’ with the German giants over a move for Sancho. At this point, talks are centred around the overall fee for the Englishman and United’s structure of payments.
Dortmund’s asking price is apparently ‘significantly less’ than the £108m they wanted to let him leave last summer. That’s due to both the pandemic and Sancho having just two years left on his current deal.
If conditions for a transfer can be met, personal terms will be no problem for United, while there is ‘cautious optimism’ from all parties that a Man United deal to sign the 21-year-old can be done.
The Old Trafford club wouldn’t have it all their own way, though, with a ‘number’ of clubs also keen on signing Sancho.
At this point, it feels like an inevitability that Sancho will become a Manchester United player. In an ideal world, the deal would’ve been agreed before the European Championships.
At this stage, that looks unlikely. The EURO’s start in six days’ time and we’ve heard nothing concrete in regards to United and Dortmund agreeing on a transfer fee.
For us fans, we’ll just have to sit tight and hope something materialises sooner rather than later. The last thing we want is this proposed transfer going right down to the wire.
