Patrice Evra is expected to join Juventus today

According to Sky Sports News, Patrice Evra is expected to complete his £2million move to Juventus later today. The 33-year old left-back didn’t have the best of seasons last year, but he’ll always be remembered as one of the Manchester United great fullbacks. He won it all in his time at United, and I, for one, am sad to see him leave under these circumstances.

He was one of the few overseas players that ‘get’ United. Ever since day one you could tell he felt blessed to be playing for the biggest club in the country, and he always gave it all. He won everything in his time at Old Trafford, including one Champions League crown back in 2008.

Evra gave us all great memories too. That wonder goal away to Bayern Munich, that made us believe we would do it for all of twenty seconds. And who can forget his dig back at Luis Suarez when he famously pretended to chew on a severed hand when United made it #20 just over a year ago. Those are just a couple of the memories he has gave us, and when we acquired his services for a mere £5.5million who’d have thought he’d be this good?

He’ll be missed at United, both by the fans and in the dressing room. Juventus have acquired a gem albeit one that is now past his best, and I’m sure he’ll do a job for them over the next few seasons.
