Patrice Evra picks his ‘Ultimate XI’ including eight Man United greats

Before I begin, I’d just like to say that Patrice Evra was absolutely quality in the Sky Sports Monday Night Football studio for Sheffield United’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal.

The former Manchester United left-back has been at the AON Training Complex completing his coaching badges over the last couple of months and quite frankly, it’s superb to see him back home.

Anyway, while on MNF, Evra was asked to draw up his ‘Ultimate XI’ containing players he had the privilege of lining up alongside.

The team he finally settled on, per Sky Sports, contained eight United greats – though there was one notable absentee and that’s where we’ll begin. I find it rather odd that Evra opted for Carlos Tevez over Wayne Rooney – though the Frenchman was particularly close friends with the Argentine.

I maintain the view that Edwin van der Sar is probably one of the most underrated goalkeepers of the Premier League era. Without him, there’s no Champions League win in 2008.

Paddy does select himself at left-back, though again, he’s right up there with the best of the best so that’s more than justified. Rio Ferdinand earns his place within the XI and call me biased by Nemanja Vidic should be in there too.

Just look at that midfield. Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs both pick themselves, though Ji-Sung Park is certainly in there by way of being best pals with the former left-back.

Cristiano Ronaldo was a shoe-in to be in the team, while we’ve already gone over Tevez’s inclusion over Wazza – which I find slightly weird…

Are there any other changes you’d make?
