Villareal defender Pau Torres is apparently keen on a Man United switch this summer.
Just earlier today, we covered a claim from 90min.com, who touted Manchester United interest in both Joules Kounde and Pau Torres.
The Manchester Evening News followed that up pretty quickly with a claim of their own, concentrating on the latter, Torres.
Apparently, the talented 24-year-old would be interested in a Man United move this summer, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to find the perfect partner for Harry Maguire.
United are one of the top sides currently looking into a possible move for Torres, who currently plies his trade for Villareal.
It’s written that United are prioritising a move for a centre-back this summer, while Torres being a left-footer makes him the natural partner for the aforementioned Maguire.
Torres, who recently signed a contract extension until 2024, has a release clause of around £52m (€60m) in his deal. In the current climate, that’s about the amount you’d expect to pay to sign an emerging centre-half.
What’s interesting is that it’s written Villareal would consider a player-plus-cash offer for Torres. Given money is tight for every club in the world right now, this may well be an option worth considering.
Eric Bailly is the first name that springs to my mind as a possible makeweight in the deal. The Ivorian came from Villareal, while if United are intent on signing a new centre-back, why not ship one out in the same deal? It feels like a win-win for all involved.
Interest in Torres is pretty big, though, with Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich all rumoured to be keen too…
