Paul Pogba may still be on his way out of Man United before the summer transfer window slams shut.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Paul Pogba problem just isn’t going away, is it?
Manchester United’s midfield star has continued to be a problem, both on and off the field, over the last few years. There’s no doubting the Frenchman’s talent, though he hasn’t shown that ability consistently at all.
Over the last few weeks, there’s been growing rumours suggesting that Pogba could leave Old Trafford. After all, the midfield maestro only has a year left on his deal and there’s no way United would want to lose him for free twice.
Today, the story on that front comes from L’Equipe (Thursday print edition), with the translation coming via Sport Witness. Apparently, there remains a belief that the United star could leave in the final week, with the story claiming that a deal is ‘sortable at less than €100m (£85m)’.
The club being touted with a move for our mercurial Frenchman is none other than Paris Saint-Germain, with L’Equipe stating ‘there are possibilities’ that a deal could be reached.
PSG will either move for an attacker or a midfielder this summer, with Pogba and United target Eduardo Camavinga being talked up as potential signings.
It’s added that Pogba’s arrival at the Parc Des Princes would mean PSG letting go of Kylian Mbappe, who is being chased by Real Madrid.
For United, it feels too late in the window to late Pogba leave. Time is winding down to sort out a replacement and the Reds have been pretty slow at acting when it comes to completing deals, so I wouldn’t have much confidence they’d get someone signed in time.
Honestly, they should just take the risk of Pogba leaving next summer. Obviously, it’s not an ideal signing but with the Frenchman at his best, this United side can challenge for major honours this season.
