No player has divided opinion like Paul Pogba has over the last few years. The superstar 26-year-old has been hit and miss since moving to Manchester United in 2016 – although his time at Old Trafford could be drawing close to its end.
According to a report from Marca, it is being claimed that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane ‘wants’ to sign Pogba this summer, with the Frenchman ‘keen’ to make the move happen; although the article claims it will not be ‘easy’ for Los Blancos to complete the transfer.
Apparently, Madrid have a choice between Pogba and Christian Eriksen, and although a deal to sign the latter would be easier due to the Dane having just one year left on his deal, Zidane is ‘leaning towards Pogba’…
In terms of money, again a deal for Eriksen is more viable. He’d cost around €60m (£53m), while Pogba wouldn’t be allowed to leave United for anything under €140m (£125m)…
The ball is in United’s court as Pogba still has a few years left on his initial Red Devils deal, so they’re under no real pressure to sell this summer. However, if the price is right, I don’t think it’d be the worst idea to move away from him.
I get that he’s probably our most talented player, but for me, he hasn’t shown anywhere near enough consistency while seemingly having a negative effect on the dressing room at the same time…
