Paul Pogba is the only Manchester United player named in the BBC Team of the Week after his performance against West Ham.
Well, it certainly wasn’t vintage Red Devils for the first hour but in the end, Manchester United would come out on top winning 3-1.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer adapted and adjusted perfectly at half-time, though the fans (myself included) wasn’t best-pleased to see Paul Pogba keep his place on the field. What do we know, hey?
After all, it was the Frenchman who’d get United back on track with a simply stunning finish from outside the area. From that moment on, Pogba would start to control proceedings, allowing the Red Devils to win the all-important midfield battle.
For his display, Pogba was the one United star named in the latest BBC Team of the Week following the 3-1 win. I’m normally in full agreement with these but this time, I’m still not convinced Pogba should’ve been included…

Garth Crooks on Pogba’s inclusion:
“I felt somewhat compelled to put Paul Pogba in my TOTW on the basis that if I had left him out readers would have said that I have a problem with him.”
“Well, that’s because I do. The France international is irritating beyond belief. For an hour his performance was awful and then, out of nothing, he produces the most wonderful finish.”
It seems as though Crooks isn’t completely sold on Pogba, either. Which I feel is more than fair. Let’s be honest, it was hardly a vintage display from the World Cup winner, was it? Rather it was a brilliant moment of magic.
That pretty much sums up his United career, doesn’t it? Pogba has shown flashes of his capabilities during his four-year stint back in Manchester, rather than delivering real week-in-week-out consistency.
Personally, I’d have had both Marcus Rashford or Bruno Fernandes in this team over Pogba. They were the real game-changers for Solskjaer over the weekend – and I suspect they’ll continue to fulfil that role over the course of this season.
