Manchester United Football Club have had a Paul Pogba saga brewing since the summer when the midfielder admitted that he was seeking a new challenge.
In the end, the Red Devils would keep ahold of their star midfielder, though the underlying issue was never really going to just disappear.
Pogba has started just six games this season due to a couple of ankle injuries and according to the Manchester Evening News, the star 26-year-old’s ‘head is not currently at United’ while the midfielder has told his teammates that he still wants a Reds exit this summer.
I guess that this was somewhat expected, as his mindset is hardly going to have changed due to the turgid football that is currently being churned out. However, it’s worth pointing out that Pogba only impressed in fits and spurts when he has been fit and available since moving to Old Trafford. He’s hardly set the world alight…
Perhaps the fact that United signed Bruno Fernandes was an indicator that the club are preparing for the exit of Pogba. The ball is still in United’s court, though, with the Frenchman having two-and-a-half years still left on his contract.
I’ve always been of the old-school mindset that if a player doesn’t want to be here, you get what you can for them and let them go. It should be a privilege to play for United, and if Pogba doesn’t want to be here, then so be it…
