Paul Scholes full of praise for Juan Mata

Manchester United legend and former player Paul Scholes has hailed Juan Mata as ‘the best player in the league over the past couple of seasons’ and if you look at the stats you’ll find it hard to disagree. Last year the clever Spaniard scored 20 goals and contributed 35 assists in 64 games across all competitions.

Although Mata hasn’t been at full fitness due to a lack of playing time for Chelsea, he has come up trumps when the side have needed him. However he must now push on and continue to fight for the cause.

Scholes told ManUtd.com:

“For the last couple of years Mata has probably been the best player in the league,”

“We had to pay a lot of money for him and we were very lucky that he wasn’t in Chelsea’s plans, and only we can benefit from him now.

“Hopefully he can have a strong end to the season and he can help us climb the table.”

In his three appearances for United so far, Juan Mata has three assists all leading to goals from Robin van Persie. Those two seem to be developing a nice link, and hopefully Wayne Rooney can form a bond as soon as possible to help propel us up the table.
