Paul Scholes singles out 28-year-old for praise following Man United’s FA Cup win

Well, the game wasn’t as easy as everyone expected, but Manchester United eventually managed to get the result they so desperately wanted away at Blackburn Rovers. Jose Mourinho’s men won 2-1, after going behind thanks to an excellently worked goal from Owen Coyle’s side.

That didn’t stop Manchester United from progressing, however, and the Red Devils were not behind for long – and it came from a moment of magic directly from the supremely talented Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Our midfield Armenian had a slow start to life at Old Trafford, but his qualities are really shining through now. He saw an excellent run from Marcus Rashford at Ewood Park, and he played an inch-perfect defence-splitting ball to lay it on a plate for the speedster.

Now, the 28-year-old has received some praise from one of the best in the business when it comes to pinging a pass forward; Paul Scholes.

“It was a great pass. We know he is capable of this. We’ve seen it over the last few years at Borussia Dortmund. Now we’re starting to see him do it at Manchester United,” Scholes told BT Sportas quoted by the Sport Review.

“The defending was horrendous. Great quality from Rashford to show composure to put the ball into the net.”

It really doesn’t get any better. When Paul Scholes says this about a footballer, you just know the lad in question is a real talent. We’ve seen glimpses of just how good Henrikh Mkhitaryan can be for this football club, and it really is wonderful watching him in action recently.

He’s just so direct, a real hard-worker and he glides past his marker effortlessly at times. You can see why Jose Mourinho loves him, because he doesn’t mind doing the dirty work either.
