Manchester United laboured to a 1-1 draw against Southampton last weekend, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team dropping more points and falling further off the Premier League pace.
The Red Devils still have much work ahead, that much is obvious. What is encouraging is that the signings Solskjaer has made have all proven their worth.
Harry Maguire’s impact goes without saying, while Daniel James has scored three times. For me, though, it’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka who has been the best of the bunch (thus far anyway).
Anyway, for his performance, Wan-Bissaka was the sole United player named in WhoScored’s Team of the Week as he continued to impress against Southampton.
As always, WhoScored’s TOTW is compiled based on their statistical matrix, with Wan-Bissaka being the highest-scoring right-back with a 7.7.
Defensively, I’m not sure there’s a better right-back in the Premier League. Those slide tackles are just something else, though I guess he isn’t called ‘The Spider’ for nothing, eh?
What’s even more encouraging that as he gets more comfortable in Manchester and forms a better on-field connection with his teammates, you’d hope that his performances will only improve.
Hopefully, Wan-Bissaka enjoys the international break and comes back feeling even stronger!
Congratulations, Aaron!
