Manchester United Football Club more than deserved their derby day victory over the weekend, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer getting the better of Pep Guardiola for the third time this season.
The Red Devils deserved all three points, with many standout performers putting in some individually brilliant displays. I couldn’t pick just one United star to single out, though that’s what WhoScored have done in their statistical Team of the Week.
Just one United star was named in WhoScored’s TOTW following their stellar derby day display; Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The superstar right-back was just sublime from first minute right through till last.
The Spider had Raheem Sterling in his pocket, and keeping such a mega-talented attacker quiet for a full game is no easy task. Slide tackles, interceptions, blocks, shepherding out the ball, Wan-Bissaka accomplished it all during this one.
Wan-Bissaka also looked pretty lively in an offensive capacity, too, though his final ball (which is being worked on in training) was lacking.
It’s crazy to think that Wan-Bissaka is still so young aged just 22. He’s only going to get better while the Englishman has the desire and attitude to do just that.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that this young man could be amongst the best full-backs in the world in the not too distant future – if he’s not keeping that elite company already…
