Alex Telles has been pictured using crutches following his ankle injury.
Manchester United will no doubt be entering into the 2021/22 campaign with genuine title aspirations.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad is heading in an upward trajectory, with a couple of good signings made this summer. However, the modern-day game is about having a deep squad, in order to consistently rest up and rotate.
Well, one area of the field where United may well be putting their sole trust in one player is left-back. That’s because Alex Telles is nursing what looks like a pretty serious problem.
The United star was spotted on crutches when leaving a restaurant in Hale last night, with the Manchester Evening News coming up with the scoop.
Check out the snap of Telles here:
It was an ankle problem suffered by Telles, with the Brazilian injuring himself during a training session last week. At first, it wasn’t thought to be anything serious. However, it has since been confirmed he’ll miss the season’s start.
With Shaw set to return to first-team training today, this will no doubt be leaving Solskjaer somewhat concerned. Obviously, we’re less than two weeks away from our Premier League opener and at most, Shaw will have one pre-season game under his belt. Is that enough?
For Telles, this would’ve been viewed as his opening to remind everyone just how brilliant of a footballer he is. That chance is now dead in the water, while he’s focused on recovering as quickly as possible.
You get the impression that Telles is a mentally-strong bloke so he’ll come back fighting fit and with a point to prove. However, usurping Shaw from the starting line-up is now going to be tougher than it has ever been before.
Get well soon, Alex!
